The property was historically located at a strategic crossroads, making it possible to once control an ancient Roman road and the tracks leading to several neighbouring fortresses. The current edifice, composed of a tower and an oblong dwelling, dates from the 16th century at the latest. It is fronted on its eastern and southern façades by a pleasant shady garden, with a bread oven and an outhouse at its entrance.
The Tower and DwellingIn all likelihood built at the same time, the building has conserved a perfect homogeneity and architectural coherence over the centuries. Crowned with a flat tile roof, the three-storey dwelling is adjoined to a massive quadrangular tower, taller than the house by a third and topped with a pointed flat tile roof. Numerous architectural details decorate the façade: brattices, modillions and mullion windows. Organised in such a way that was quite common for the era in which it was built: the building's garden level is dedicated to the technical and service rooms while, at its centre, a staircase leads to the upper floors divided into two large rooms for private and public use.
The garden-level floor
Three doors facing the garden lead to a workshop, a cellar used to house the furnace, as well as a woodshed with lavatory, respectively. At the centre of the building, a door opens onto a stone staircase providing access to the noble floor.
