Description
A stone's throw from Chatelain, a writer's house by Horta
Built in 1903 by the architect Victor Horta for his friend, the art critic and collector Sander Pierron, the house belongs to the most classical period of Horta's career. With limited means, he was able to give it elegance and quality, while simplifying its forms and choice of materials. In the words of the art critic, it offers “an impression of astonishing, intimate luxury”, which the current owner has preserved to perfection. Inhabited by only 3 successive owners with a passion for art and culture, it is in an exceptional state of preservation.
With a surface area of ±350 m², 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a terrace and a 70 m² south-facing garden, the house, spread over 5 floors, includes a kitchen and separate dining room on the mezzanine floor. On the second floor, two living rooms, one of which is extremely bright, lit by large bay windows with transparent, bevelled glass giving direct access to the terrace and south-facing garden.
The master bedroom is on the 1st floor. On the 2nd floor, Sander Pierron's former workshop, illuminated by a large bay window, has been transformed into a suite, bathroom and dressing room. On the 3rd floor, two guest bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. Heating is gas.
For the first time in his career, Victor Horta used polychromy to enliven the red-and-white brick façade. The bluestone doorframes and baseboards add a touch of luxury. Inside, abundant colored stained glass windows, marble mosaic floors, mahogany staircase, gilded metal banister,
